We’re looking for an experienced Staff Software Engineer to help in the formation of our new Marketplace Apps team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of our newly launched native application and in advancing our strategy of integrating dbt Cloud more closely with our cloud data warehouse partners.
In this role, you will build products & integrations from the ground up, working iteratively with both internal dbt Labs teams and external stakeholders. As a Staff Engineer, you’ll be the technical backbone for the team, providing technical guidance and leadership, as well as direct technical contributions. You must be able to inspire those around you with a deep passion and hunger to solve ambiguous problems.

Your work directly impacts dbt Lab’s mission by providing new solutions to the many challenges faced by the organizations we serve and the data practitioners we reach.
In this role, you can expect to:
Develop solutions that expose more of the dbt Cloud experience within our native application as well as adding and enhancing functionality unique to the app, including our AI chatbot Ask dbt
Define and manage team technical standards, release tooling, observability to ensure that we maintain a high quality bar
Collaborate with your product counterpart to refine our native application and integration strategy, setting a clear execution path for the team
Explore, evaluate, and integrate offerings from our cloud data warehouse partners to ensure that our customers get the best of both platforms
You are a good fit if you have:
Worked asynchronously as part of a fully-remote, distributed team
Have the sense of ownership and drive needed to tackle ambiguous and open-ended problems
Have 10+ years of professional software engineering experience building containerized web applications in programming languages such as Python, Java, Javascript, or Go
Served as a technical lead and defined the roadmap for complex projects spanning multiple teams and functions
You'll have an edge if you have:
Experience with Cloud Data Warehouse platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery…)
Experience OEMing or white-labeling SaaS applications
