Senior Software Engineer, Backend - Underwriting

Dave is looking for a talented Senior Backend Engineer to build and maintain underwriting engineering systems that power our core credit products. Our ideal candidate is someone that’s excited about launching new features to enhance user access to credit, designing and implementing workflows and integrations with machine learning models, and won’t back down from the challenges of scale. What you'll do:

• Design, build, and maintain the backend code to support features used by millions of users

• Define roadmap and architecture based on technology and business needs

• Backend development in Typescript

• Build pipelines integrating underwriting rules with Machine Learning models

• Regularly participate in code reviews and other team functions

• Provide technical leadership and assist guiding the team's overall technical direction

• Offer mentorship and pair with other engineers regularly

What you'll need:

• Bachelor’s degree (or above) in Computer Science or related discipline.

• Other majors will be considered in conjunction with related experience and/or training.

• 4+ Years of Software Engineering Experience with a focus on Backend feature development.

• Strong CS fundamentals and problem solving skills

• Experience programming in one or more general purpose programming languages, including but not limited to: Java, JavaScript, Python, C/C++ or Go

• Effective communication skills, a positive attitude, and ability to give and receive constructive feedback

$138,000 - $222,000 a year

Dave has established a nationally applicable pay program that recognizes that regardless of where Daves choose to live, their time and effort is of equal value to the company. As such we utilize base salary ranges that are intended to be competitive in all markets and do not differentiate pay based on employee work location.
